Blackjack 2 with Garmin Mobile XT GPS

Purchased a Garmin Mobile XT from amazon.com. Trying to help others who want to use the GPS on their Blackjack 2. Think of it this way, if your wanting to save money.. go with the Garmin. Its only 80 bucks (depending where you get it, again mines from Amazon.com). If you use Telenav (.99/month) you WILL need a data plan (more then likely an unlimited .99/month). bucks a month x 12 = 0/year Garmin Moblie XT = / one time purchase (and its doesnt use Data! unless you want traffic or weather updates) Now sure there is Google Maps which is also nice, but you still NEED a Data Plan to use it. Hopefully this helps some people, and I will have a video up sometime soon of it running while Im driving around.

BTW, this is a very informative vid. But what do you do when a new map is available and you are currently running the older version like the 2007 or the 2008map. How do you update or upgrade ur old map? Do you have to buy another new may for the full price for whatever it may cost?

see the reply below? Every year a new Garmin XT comes out, so if you wanna update, your going to have to pay up. The only updates it does are looking for prices on gas and traffic (free through garmin, but cost through your Phone provider since it uses Data)

Does Garmin charge for map updates for the Mobile XT? I know they do for Nuvis.

quick question… does the sky “have” to be clear? I just installed my garmin mobile XT microSD, then reset my blackjack 2. I open up Garmin Mobile XT and it says “Searching for GPS device”. I was outside for about 5 minutes and nothing changed???

Its not a service, its a product. Its infinite, however you will need to update each year.
