dont be mean, because I could be REALLY mean to you right now.
Even if an ipod was constantly connected to wifi, it doesnt have the GPS hardware needed to locate where you are.

    @ bengoevaerts

Well, att has a gps option for 9.99 a month. Just go and get either Sygic or this one, Navigon. Both are pretty good. You pay one time fee with no external hardware. Or you can go to this website “XplicitDking” posted and get it for free. I did to try it and it works. Besides with Tom Tom, I’m sure you will end up spending like $100 atleast for hardware, where Sygic and Navigon don’t need it and it works great.

I agree about the hardware thing, buth the monthly fee? Why would they do that? You probably need to buy maps separately from you region and when there’s an update, you need to buy this. But paying every month? We’re talking about the app store right?

    @ bengoevaerts

    1) When tom tom does come out, I’m sure they will be charging monthly fee.
    2) I know for sure tom tom will require to purchase hardware in order for it to work.

will this work for the ipod touch

I think TomTom will blow this away. It’s like Windows and Apple. Tomtom will give you acces to you music, work with bluetooth and even make a devide for you car to make the gps better. And the quality of the navigon charts really seems to suck

Are there any plans to pu these features into the iphone 3G Navigont:

    Reality View Pro
    Lane Assistant Pro
    Panorama View3D

If so i would happily purchase this over TomTom!!!

akf2000, you are aware the iPhone 3G / 3GS both have a GPS chip on board which can now be fully realised with the Apple OS3.0 software? The compas has NOTHING to do with it!

I really hope NAVIGON do well because its going to be a fight with Tom Tom and the winner will be the company that brings fast fluid performance, innovative opptions and settings (as in the top end sat nav units) and ease of use and pricing.
